THINGS YOU’LL WANT TO KNOW!
FDCC shoots a two gun match the last Sunday of every month, and an SPR/DMR (scoped rifle) match the first Sunday every March, June, September, and December. All matches are at the ATTAC/Ancient City range in St. Augustine. Sign up/safety brief is at 9:30am. Cost is $20 per shooter. Please bring cash.
Matches are RARELY canceled.
The 2 Gun match focuses on a rifle but uses pistol. You will typically need up to 200 rounds of rifle and 75 rounds of pistol. It may be more, it may be less, but that’s a pretty safe estimate. Be prepared to shoot at targets anywhere from arms reach to 200 yards, but most targets will be in close. Any CENTER FIRE rifle or carbine and pistol is permitted. We will occasionally allow children or other very, very new shooters to shoot rim fire.
You will need a minimum of 3 rifle magazines and 3 pistol magazines, and some way to carry them on you (yes, your pockets are fine). You will need a sling for your rifle and a holster that is specifically designed for your pistol. We do not allow generic fit type holsters to be used.
The SPR/DMR match uses a center fire, scoped, semi-auto, hi-cap mag fed (20rd minimum capacity) rifle (no pistols in this match). You will need a sling. You must have an optic of at least 3 power. You will need 100 rounds of rifle ammo, at least 30rds of that should be match grade precision ammo. Targets at these matches will range from as close as 5 yards out to 400 yards or more. No target will be smaller than 2moa in size, regardless of distance.
At either match, bring a zerod gun. There isn’t time or space to allow shooters to get a zero once you show up. Even at the standard carbine match, we will shoot up to 200 yards or at small targets. A good zero is important.
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, do not shoot armor piercing or penetrator rounds at our steel. Steel targets make the matches fun to shoot, eliminates the time it takes to paste and reset, keep things running smoothly and they give instant feed back. Nothing ruins steel faster than holes from AP or penetrator ammo. Please don’t ruin our steel with your ammo.
This is a casual, fun, match, it is sanctioned by no one at all, and we like it that way. Please come with a good “roll with it” attitude. We’re all doing this because we love it and we love seeing others love it. We’re not match directors or professional shooters. We’re everyday people doing what we can to put on a fun event for other everyday people. Everyone you see setting up, tearing down, designing courses, keeping time, etc. are volunteers. None of us get paid a thing, we actually give of ourselves to make it happen every month. Issues arise all the time, and if you see one, please be part of the solution and kindly point it out to someone.
We encourage all types of people to come to the matches and any match on any given day reflects this. If you’re new to this style shooting, don’t be discouraged. Come out, take your time, and we will walk you through it step by step. Don’t be worried about your time, we will help in any way we can to see you’re being safe and having fun.
Thanks! We hope to see you there.
